The Body Shop Instaglow CC Cream SPF 20 in Bright Glow and Peachy Glow – Review & Swatches

The Body Shop Instaglow CC Cream SPF 20 Review and Swatches

The Body Shop Instaglow CC Cream SPF 20 is described on the site as below:

Our Instaglow CC Cream SPF 20 PA+++ goes beyond a CC cream, it will revive your skin with a healthy-looking glow. This multi-tasking formula illuminates, minimises the appearance of pores, reduces shine and moisturises for 24H – making it a great pre-foundation primer. Non comedogenic and dermatologically tested it’s suitable for all skin types.

•SPF 20 PA+++

•Choose from 3 shades

•Minimises the appearance of pores

•Reduces shine

•24 hour moisture

Apply before foundation or wear alone.

This cream retails for PKR. 3490 (I believe this is the price, I am not 100% sure what the tag in the shop said; sorry!) and you get 25 ml of product. It is available in three shades: Bright Glow (for light skin), Peachy Glow (for light to medium skin), and Warm Glow (for Dark Skin).

In the US, it retails for $22.

I have the former two shades.

The Yays

  • These Body Shop Instaglow CC Creams creams contain an SPF of 20.
  • Despite The Body Shop stating that these are for certain skin tones, I find Bright Glow to be a wonderful brightening base on my tan skin. It washes my skin with a subtle, healthy glow which is great for no-makeup days.
  • Both creams give my skin a radiant look, though Bright Glow gives a more dewy one.
  • Both Bright Glow and Peachy Glow are great primers, and I find my makeup lasts longer and creases less when worn over The Body Shop Instaglow CC Creams.
  • Worn alone, they last for about 5 – 6 hours before “slipping” a little, and worn under makeup, they make my makeup look fresh for 1 – 2 hours longer than it does without these creams.
  • Despite my dry skin, these creams give me some amount of moisture, which is great in warmer weather.
  • They do not have an oily base; in fact they feel like a silky “layer” of product when applied, so they would be good for oily skin, too.
  • 25 ml is a good amount of product.

The Mehs

  • While Bright Glow actually does brighten up my face, Peachy Glow really does nothing in the way of correcting my skin; in fact it looks a bit orange on me.
  • They do not sink into the skin; when I wash my face I can actually feel these creams coming off.
  • I think PKR. 3490 (or $22) is a bit much for a product that is not much more than a good primer.

Do I recommend The Body Shop Instaglow CC Cream SPF 20?

I really liked Bright Glow as a brightening, glowy primer. I would recommend this to people of all skin tones, as I felt this didn’t give me a “white cast”; rather it imparted more of a luminous veil to the skin.

If you have normal/oily/dry skin, and are looking for a good primer on no-makeup days or to wear under makeup for making it last longer, Bright Glow is a good (albeit a little pricey) option.

Obagi Sun Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion Tint in Warm - Review and Swatches

Obagi Sun Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion Tint in Warm – Review and Swatches

That name is a handful, isn’t it?

Anyway, I got the Obagi Sun Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion Tint in Warm after I read some articles about sun protection, and got a little paranoid that I wasn’t really wearing a proper sunscreen (I was just getting away with foundations and BB/CC creams that had SPF in them).

Me when I realized my lack of proper sun protection

I got this product from Dermstore, where it says:

You get a whopping 85 g for $51.75, but I got this when the site was having a 25% off promotion for Obagi products.

The Yays

  • It has SPF 50 and “broad spectrum” means it protects from both UVA and UVB rays.
  • The tint provides sheer coverage which is enough to blur my imperfections but not entirely cover them, which I like as I prefer wearing this underneath foundation or concealer.
  • They have two shades, in warm and cool to suit multiple skin tones.
  • This sunscreen goes under my makeup so smoothly and makes my dry skin immediately look glowy and radiant. I love that it keeps my makeup looking smooth, healthy, and non-cakey.
  • My makeup looks fresh and radiant all day with this sunscreen used as a base (in conjunction with some other essential skincare products – a post on them later!).
  • Dermstore sells this and they constantly have promotions which means you can get it for $ off.
  • 85 g is a sh!t-ton of product. That is almost three times the amount you get with most foundations, so this could easily last one a year, if not more.

The Mehs

  • The shade warm is a bit dark for my currently NC25 skin tone, but that is ok, because it means I can wear a highlighting concealer over this with ease. I think this shade can be pulled off by medium – deep skinned folks.

Do I recommend this?

It is a really great product for sun protection, and sheer coverage. I think I might try the cool shade after I am finished with warm to see if that suits me more.
