YOU GUYS. I have a new love, and it is a grey-brown stick.

If this is you, stop now.

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick foundations have mixed reviews on most retailer websites, but I don’t care. I just want to type quickly and give you the details, just so I can conclude and tell you this product is the bomb and I love it and I never want to be without it.

The stick foundations are described on the Sephora site as:

The Stick Foundation is ideal for combination and oily skin, and the lightweight, easy-to-layer foundation delivers light-to-full-coverage, depending on the method of application. It’s designed to quickly and precisely apply all-over coverage, daily touch ups, or highlight and contour with ease.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

There are about 29 shades, including three contour shades (Shadow, Fawn, Mink) and one highlight shade (Banana). You get 9 g of product for $25.

Tarte Clay Stick Foundation – Review & Swatches

I’ll be honest here: Tarte is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands; perhaps my favorite! ❣️

They have, for the past few years, come up with one amazing offering after another, most of which keep my makeup obsession fueled and my wallet depressed.

Image result for money real housewives gif

The clay stick foundation is a very recent product and Tarte has this to say about it:

Have you fed your skin lately? Our 12-hour, creamy matte clay stick feeds your appetite for weightless, natural coverage & good-for-you nutrients. #feedyourflawless

  • Amazonian clay: nature’s most perfect ingredient for better, longer, truer wear
  • mineral pigments: soothe & soften skin
  • vitamin C: antioxidant that fights free radicals while brightening skin
  • vitamin E: natural preservative that also acts as an emollient & antioxidant

Product performance: A buildable, powder-to-liquid formula that melts into skin for medium-to-full coverage, leaving a natural finish that looks & feels just like your own skin. Micro-encapsulated powders then burst with your body heat to keep you shine & cake-free. The vegan formula features antioxidant vitamins C, E & Amazonian clay, a total skin-balancing powerhouse that hydrates or mattifies depending on your skin type. The guilt-free blend also means there are no harsh chemicals like talc, gluten, sulfates, or parabens in your buildable, creamy coverage. Use on-the-go, as a spot concealer, or in lighter or darker shades to highlight & contour – just swipe, blend & #slaywithclay.

You get 9 g of product for $39. (Side note: what is it with the odd numbered pricing?! Make it $38 and call it a day.)

The shades

I have this in the shade Light Medium Neutral. It is a bit light for my currently NC25-ish skin tone, but it is great for highlighting and I think it will suit me well in the winters. I think the shade Medium Sand would have been good for me currently. Still, this shade can be worked with, blended to perfection, and darkened with the right powder shade or an off-setting cream contour.

The yay

  • I live for this finish. It is supposed to be balanced which means it suits your skin, whether it is oily, dry, or combination. Basically it is supposed to offer the best of both worlds (matte and dewy), and IMHO, it does. The finish is radiant and brightening, yet not greasy or oily looking. It is matte radiance and a healthy glow wrapped into one beautiful looking foundation.
  • The coverage is medium to a buildable full. Despite being a seemingly light and sheer foundation, this product covered all my blemishes, discoloration, and uneven skin tone. Color me impressed!
  • Goes on so smoothly and builds up with literally no cake-face.
  • I heard it photographs very well, and this is one of the main reasons I got it. I am happy to tell you that it does indeed photograph amazingly. Your skin looks like skin, but enhanced, and not makeup.
  • It lasts about 7 hours on me before beginning to slide off. So that 12 hour wear claim did not ring true for me. (I think it is best to moisturize lightly under this if you have oily skin.) But I am happy with 7 hours, so.
  • It is a very hydrating foundation. Like I thought my skin looked and felt plumper with this on. I had no dry patches on my normally dry-patchy skin.
  • Looks and feels beautiful. So sturdy and heavy and luxurious.
  • 12 shades to suit all (ok, most) skin tones.
  • This is quite ideal for highlighting and contouring, too.

The meh

  • I don’t really like the price point. $35 would be more suitable, I think.
  • It may look greasy on oily skin.
  • If you don’t let your moisturizer set, or wear heavy moisturizer, this may slide off. It looks a little matte in the swatch below, but that is because I applied it on my dry arm without any moisturizer or primer.

Do I recommend this?

I think it is a great offering if you covet a foundation that gives you healthy skin-like finish and makes you look naturally radiant in pictures. I love the finish and the coverage. But I do not think it is my HG, simply because I like a more matte finish at the end of the day, though I quite like it for the summer.

Quick Review: Jordana Forever Flawless Pressed Powder In 104 Creamy Beige

Let me tell you why this is going to be a quick review.

It’s a quick review because this product is amazing, and that’s all there is.

However, if you want details, I have those ready for you too.

Jordana Forever Flawless Pressed Powder in shade 104 Creamy Beige is a beautiful matte banana yellow shade which can be used under the eyes to set concealer or for a matte under-eye highlight, because this has something of a matte radiance to it. It can also be used as an all over setting powder for those who have yellow undertones.

This powder is smooth, creamy, applies like a dream, and man, it stays put. I put this on at around 12 pm today, and at 8 pm right now, it is still going strong, keeping oily-ness at bay, and keeping my skin kinda radiant, all at the same time.

You can get all 9.5 g of this amazing powder for just $3.99 at Jordana Cosmetics. (Btw, the powder is listed as 104 Creamy Natural on the site.)

P.S. As someone who has the Ben Nye Banana Powder, I can tell you this is a very, very good alternative to that.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray has been formulated by Urban Decay in collaboration with Skindinävia to set makeup in place for up to 16 hours.

Says Sephora:

Unlike similar products on the market that feel sticky or tight on your skin, the sprayer delivers a microfine mist that goes on so light, you’ll hardly feel it—and once you’ve applied it, you won’t even know it’s there.

Research results:
In a 7-day clinical study of All Nighter:

Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer In Cool Medium

The Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer has reached something of a cult status in recent years, for its mythical ability to cover up even the most raccoon-like dark circles and other blemishes.

Swayed by tales of its awesomeness, I saw a Facebook retailer selling this in the shade 02 Cool Medium, and purchased it without a second thought.

Should I have thought twice? Perhaps. (Then again, I should’ve thought twice about many other decisions in life. Sigh. Anyway.)

Pretty Things: Morphe 9C Palette

So, I have a confession to make: I like staring at pretty palettes. I mean, who doesn’t?

Me, I like staring at highlight/contour palettes in particular.

Which is why the minute I got wind of the Morphe 9 Color Highlight/Contour Palette, I knew I had to have it, if only just to stare at it forever.

An order was placed, and two months later (thanks to slow shipping at Morphe), the Morphe 9C palette was MINE!

Mine to stare at, mine to love, mine to perhaps even use.

I’ll be honest, I have yet to use this because I already have too many contour/highlight options for now. But on days when I really need something pretty to look at – quickly – this palette is what I usually opt for.

Since I haven’t used it yet, I can’t do a proper review right now, but if you’re looking for a good quality contour/highlight palette, this one in particular has the following advantages:

  • Value for money: you get 9 shades for $22.99, and the net weight is 45 g so essentially, dividing that by 9, you get around 5 g worth of product in each pan. Compare that with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit (which I also have) where you get 6 shades, of 3 g each, for $40. Of course, for me, the ABH kit has the huge plus point of having customization/refill options.
  • From the few shades I have lightly swatched (and from videos I’ve seen of this product in use), I can tell you the shades are very pigmented and smooth.
  • Great variety of colors, especially if you have medium/dark/tan/olive skin tones.
  • Multiple finishes in one palette, as these shades range from matte to brightening/glowy. (There’s even an orange corrector shade!)

Hopefully I will come up with a proper review of this palette soon; this post isn’t in any way a promotion of it. I saw Manny MUA use this palette, fell in love, and ordered it on my own, with my own money.

For now, I just wanted to share with you all how pretty it is. 🙂

If you want to check it out, here is the link for it on the Morphe website.
