Wildfox Perfume Gift Set – A review of my most favourite perfume!

So I recently got a gift set of my most favorite fragrance – Wildfox Perfume!

Sephora says about Wildfox:

The fragrance for lovers, skinny dippers, barefoot explorers, and late night chocolate eaters, Wildfox is a dreamy bouquet that charms with dewy white florals, intrigues with absinthe and incense, and captivates with the silky warmth of honey and musks. It is a fragrance for dreamers and for those who believe in themselves.

Blending vintage Hollywood glamour with a wild, young aesthetic, the pink, cut-glass bottle sparkles.

Absinthe Mist, Apricot Blush, Incense, Jasmine Essence, Dewy Honeysuckle, White Camellia, Captive Musk, Honey, Ambrox.
Dreamy. Lush. Romantic.

Can I just say, I have never agreed with a description more!!!

Everything about the description fits this scent perfectly. It is sweet, but not too sweet or sweet enough to give you a headache. It is sexy while approachable and warm. It is somewhat powdery in a way that is fresh and romantic, and not grandma-like.

“Dreamy. Lush. Romantic.” is spot on!

In the gift set, there is a 100 ml bottle of the perfume, a 10 ml rollerball, and a 100 ml jar of body creme frosting.

The perfume itself lasts, but the scent is stronger and longer lasting when layered over the body creme. And can we take a second to talk about how beautiful that bottle is? It just lights up a dresser!

The body creme frosting is heavenly! It is smooth, dreamy, creamy, and smells like I’m floating on a luxurious bed of bliss. The jar is heavy and feels firm in the hand.

And, the rollerball is great for keeping in the handbag, or if you just want to try the scent and not really commit to it.

I’m obsessed with this scent and this set, and I really want to try the perfumed oil next!

A few of my favorite things

Today’s post is about a few things I have been enjoying lately, which I thought I’d share with you!

Apple MacBook Pro with Touch Bar

My husband was going to get this for me for my birthday in June, but when he saw how laggy and slow my old laptop was, (I still love you, Toshiba laptop!), he decided to gift it to me about 3 months early, just in time for his birthday. 😁

I love how smoothly this runs, and OMG, the Touch Bar is so fun!!! It takes a while to switch to, from Windows, but once I got the hang of it, I found it a little easier to operate, in comparison.

However, I don’t like the new “thunderbolt” ports which make it necessary to purchase a slew of additional accessories if one is to be able to connect the laptop to items other than just the charger provided.

Still, I ❤️ all things Apple, and I ❤️❤️❤️ this too!

Arrested Development

Lucille Bluth: You want your belt to buckle, not your chair.

I know this show has been out for ages now, but I just started watching it properly (by properly I mean not catching bits and pieces on TV), and OMG, I live for Lucille Bluth.

Lucille Bluth: I’ll be in the hospital bar.

Michael: Uh, you know there isn’t a hospital bar, Mother.

Lucille: Well, this is why people hate hospitals. [Cackles at her own wit]

Sneaker Wedges

I am obsessed with makeup and shoes, and my recent shoe obsession is with sneaker wedges/wedge sneakers/whatever you call them. The two pairs above are from Aldo and Converse, respectively, and I love how comfortable yet cute they look. I am a size 5 and initially I wanted the Aldo ones in black, but my size was sold out and I’m glad I got the Converse pair because I love how they look with jeans.

Donna Karan Cashmere Mist and DKNY Be Delicious

Donna Karan Cashmere Mist has long been one of my favorite scents. It has a lovely, sexy, sophisticated touch to it that is warm and … comforting (for lack of a better word) at the same time. I decided to try DKNY Be Delicious as well, which is (from what I have read) kind of supposed to be “New York City in a bottle”. Honestly, it is a really fresh and upbeat scent that is simultaneously attractive. Cashmere Mist is more of an autumn/winter scent, and Be Delicious is more of a spring/summer one, for those who prefer season-specific fragrances. Personally, I could wear  these two all year round.

Sleek Makeup Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream in Birthday Suit

I wrote a blog post about this long along, and I’ve fallen in love with it all over again. It is that perfect pinky nude that goes just as well with minimal makeup as it does with an intense smoky look. When I get ready for the day, this is always my last step and it really pulls my look together. Plus it feels soft and comfortable on the lips, and is not drying at all. It can be layered without looking flaky as well. Win!

What about you? What are some things (could be shows, food, makeup, anything at all) you are currently enjoying? Let me know in the comments below, or on my Instagram (thegirllovesmakeup) where you can follow me for reviews and makeup porn!

MAC Extra Dimension Skin Finish in Double Gleam – Review & Swatches!

What is this?

MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish is, as per MAC, “A liquid-powder highlighter that gives a luminous, well-defined finish”. Liquid-powder indeed! (Just the term makes me drool!)

Double Gleam is described on the site as a “beige that breaks silver”. I disagree with that, as to me, this is clearly a neutral toned white-gold shade.

The Yay

  • Double Gleam is a beautiful pale gold shade with just the right balance of gold and silvery undertones which will suit cool and warm skin tones alike.
  • Lovely wet look. This looks like a dewy sheen on the skin as opposed to a solid stroke of glow.
  • Can be blended out for subtlety or layered on for a strobed effect.
  • Lasted about 7 hours on me before I washed my face.
  • Shimmer in this is minimal. Normally I am wary of MAC highlights because they have visible shimmer in them but this is an exception. The shimmer is finely milled and visible only in the harshest of lighting.
  • This doesn’t emphasise my skin’s natural texture too much, unless it is really packed on.
  • This is a permanent product in MAC’s collection.
  • 9 g is a good amount of product.
  • Sturdy packaging.
  • 4 shades available in this range!

The Meh

  • I still think the price ($33) is high despite the amount of product given.
  • This may not suit deep skin tones as it could look ashy.

I find this applies best with fingers or a fan brush. A dome shaped powder brush may pack it on too much and emphasise flaws.

Do I recommend this product?

It is a finely milled highlighter with a dewy, sheen, and I’ve been on the lookout for a purely white gold one with those characteristics. So if you, like me, want something like that, I think it’s a good choice, unless you can find alternatives at a lower cost! (Makeup Geek Lit , I’ve got my eye on you!)

MAC for $33

Side note:

I got this Velvet Teddy fragrance sample with my order. MAC says “A silky smooth current of wild honey and creamy musk runs through this oriental fragrance.”

My husband isn’t the biggest fan of it, but for some reason I like it! It is strong at first but fades to a very cute scent, and stays on for the whole day, lingering on unto the next one.
