These brushes are rather universal in that they cover all needs in terms of application.

General Overview

  • These brushes are very dense and quite soft. They are made of synthetic  fiber hair which sometimes irritates my skin, but I have yet to comment on that. If I have any updates about these irritating my skin, I will let you know.
  • They do not tug at the skin.
  • They disperse the product very evenly and smoothly with no streaking. The finish is a very natural, almost blurred, airbrushed one.
  • The brush head sits on a thin, tapered design (made of plastic) but it is still very sturdy, at least in my experience. Again, if any brush breaks, I will update this.
  • You get 10 very multi-functional brushes for $29.95, which to me is a great price for quality and versatility.
  • They come in a very nice case (Check it out here on my Instagram).
  • Best to wash these before first use. They dry quickly after washing, too.

Application, characteristics, and usage of each brush

Brush 1
  • Quite huge head.
  • Sturdy with soft bristles.
  • Good for applying moisturizer or other skincare product to entire face.
  • Can also be used on the body.
Brush 2
  • Sturdy with soft bristles.
  • Good for buffing moisturizer and foundation into the face.
  • Can also be used on the body.
Brush 3
  • Perfect for applying foundation on the face.
  • Sturdy with soft bristles.
  • Can also be used to buff in cream or powder bronzer.
Brush 4
  • Sturdy with soft bristles.
  • Perfect for buffing in under-eye concealer or cream highlighter.
  • Can also be used for buffing in cream or powder bronzer.
Brush 5
  • Very sturdy, soft bristles.
  • Perfect for application of cream or powder bronzer.
Brushes 6, 7, and 8
  • I use these for nose contour or eye brow powder application.
  • They are all very sturdy and the bristles, while somewhat stiffly set, still manage to feel soft.
  • I use 7 to apply nose contour to the sides of my nose, and then 6 or 5 to blend it in.
  • I use 8 to apply and blend a highlight shade down the center of my nose. It is also useful to apply brow powder.
Brushes 9 and 10
  • Very sturdy and stiff yet soft on the face
  • Both good for blending in nose contour or highlight on the nose/brow-bones/even cheekbones. Also useful for blending in eye-shadow in a pinch.

While the brushes are all great for the above-mentioned uses, they are not limited to these; they are actually quite versatile and can be used in many more ways.

I think for the price, these oval brushes are soft, sturdy to the touch, and great for makeup application. The handle joint is a bit thin; I am afraid of breaking that off, and if that happens I will update the review.

For now, I am very happy with my purchase and recommend these brushes.

MorphexDeysiDanger Highlight Palette: Review + Swatches

Before we begin, why don’t you click here to check out my newly made Instagram, and give me a follow – I would love to have your support and give you mine!

Thank you!

The Details

The MorphexDeysiDanger Highlight Palette is a collaboration between Morphe Brushes and YouTube MUA Deysi Danger. I’ll admit I hadn’t heard of her before this palette, but after I received it and used it, I am impressed – more power to her!

The palette has 9 shades, all containing 5 g worth of product. This palette retails for $25, so judging by the amount you get and the quality/versatility of the shades (more on that later), I think it is a very sweet deal.

Says Morphe:

Slayed, snatched and fearless – Deysi Danger knows how to make a statement. Not only does this palette deliver the radioactive glow that Deysi is known for, it is practical and versatile with shades to fit a range of skin tones. It features a rosy bronze that is perfect for deeper complexions, a champagne gold and even lavender shades that are very much on trend. There’s also two matte powders in banana and French vanilla that are perfect for brightening the under eye. Wear them alone or mix it up in true Deysi style.

“I have collaborated with Morphe to bring a highlight palette to their collection. You will find colors in this palette that I have rocked since my counter days; mixing colors and making my own as always. With this palette, you can go from a soft dewy look to a complete Deysi Danger beat down! You will glow so hard! I hope you love it as much as I LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU…Never give up on your dreams because everything is possible in this life; if I did it so can you! xx, Deysi”
Dimensions of Palette:
Length: 5 3/4″
Width: 6″
Thickness: 1/2″
Number of Pans: 9

Ingredients: Talc, Mica, Magnesium Sterate, Titanium Dioxide, Phenyl Trimethicone, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Silica, Tocopheryl Acetate, Diisostearyl Malate, Methylparaben, Polyparaben. May Contain: Mica and Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Ultramarines, Manganese Violet, D&C Red No. 6 Ba Lake, FD & C Yellow No.6, FD&C Red 40 A1 Lake, FD&C Yellow 5 A1 Lake, FD&C Blue No.1

The shades:

Top row: matte beige, matte yellow, radiant white-gold

Middle row: yellow-toned coral, blue-based white-pink, blue-based lavender

Last row: true yellow gold, deep bronze-gold, deep orange-bronze

(I know, I need to work on shade descriptions.)

The Yay

  • Ridiculously pigmented. These shades are two things: color + glow. No visible shimmer or glitter. Just opaque radiance.
  • Very versatile. You get two matte highlights and multiple yellow and blue-based shades of shimmer highlights. There is something for all skin tones. (I, personally, think these shades are best suited to medium skin tones.)
  • Variety of uses: these can be used under the eyes to brighten and set concealer, on the cheekbones and high points of the face, and as blushes/bronzers depending on your skin tone.
  • They apply like a dream. SO soft and smooth, like butter.
  • Lasting power is amazing. These lasted about 6 – 7 hours on me in fall weather before I took them off with a makeup wipe. They fade, but very slowly and in a way that leaves a subtle glow on your face.
  • Value for money 9 shades, 5 g each, for $25.

The Meh

  • These shades may be too deep for very fair skin tones.
  • They are a little powdery (but don’t kick up powder when applied and there is no fallout).
  • Slow shipping at Morphe. (Maybe this is just me, though…)

I use the matte shades as under-eye highlights or matte highlights when I want to have glow without shimmer. And I usually use the middle row shades as blushes while using the bottom right one as a bronzer.

Do I recommend this?

I think it is tremendous value for money if you want to try out a variety of highlight shades without spending too much money for it, as you would with some higher end brands.

Morphe brushes for $25.

NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette

This palette retails for $25 at NYX, where it says:

Define your features like a pro with our refillable highlight and contour palette! Each set includes eight customizable highlighting and contouring shades perfect for emphasizing your favorite features. When it’s time to swap out a pan or two you can find the palette’s Pro Singles HERE.

The plastic palette itself is also available separately for sale, as are the shades themselves. (Link given in description above) There are 8 shades in the palette while as singles there are 12 shades available for $5 each (2.7 g each).

So basically you can purchase a shade separately should you not wish to shell out the full amount of the palette. Also, if you have the palette and wish to replace a shade with another one, you can buy a refill (or a new shade), pop the old one out of the palette and replace it with the new one.

Choices abound with this palette, that is for sure.

Favorite Summer Glow: Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in “Naked”

For my birthday, back in June, my sister gifted me the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette, and it was then that I understood what love is. Kind of.

The palette contains a blush, bronzer, and highlighter. All three are in powder form. It is now available in 4 different shade ranges, though the one I have is the original version, Naked.

Urban Decay claims:

Bronze. Glow. Blush. Get Naked and FLUSHED in no time with our hot (and highly coveted) threesome. Go ahead…get Naked and FLUSHED with our silky bronzer, highlighter and blush. These shades diffuse light as they enhance and perfect, giving your skin a fresh, glowy look—even when your late-night antics have you feeling otherwise. But how you get Naked is up to you. Use these SILKY pressed powders individually or blend them together to create just the right effect—and let this seemingly straight-laced trio morph into a tangled color love fest. Then bask in the radiant glow and let people wonder what you’ve been up to. Our micronized, jet-milled formula has a luxe, featherlight texture that feels amazing on your skin. The shades are intensely pigmented, yet they blend beautifully. And the finish? Flawless.
Naked (our original trio) contains medium-pink shades, Streak skews toward peachy/coral hues, Native is light pink-based, and Strip (the deepest of the four) has more of a mauve vibe. Not sure which one to choose? Each trio is versatile enough for any skin tone, so you can’t go wrong. Naked Flushed comes in a sleek case with an easy-open magnetic closure and a big mirror. It’s compact enough for travel or mid-date touchups, but don’t let that fool you. This might just be the biggest pan of product out there; the bronzer, highlighter and blush are all full-size on their own. Fill Weight: 14 g POIDS NET/NET WT. 0.49 oz
