Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream, oh, how I love you.
How I long to slather your creaminess all over my face, how I desire to bathe in your luxuriousness, how I yearn to be enveloped by your ethereal scent.
When I used to watch Sex And The City a few years back, I was so intrigued with the lifestyle of Charlotte York-Goldenblatt. Charlotte was beautiful, she dressed well, she had the kind of job which was portrayed as interesting and sophisticated (art dealer), she lived in a Park Avenue apartment, she married a man who truly loved her, and eventually, she settled into a life of domestic bliss with her adorable family.
Charlotte was sophisticated. She was posh. She was bougie.
(Of course, above all, she was a compassionate, kind person who tried her best to be there for friends and family. But this post is not about that. It’s about her bougie-ness.)
Anyhow, when I apply the Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream, Charlotte York-Goldenblatt is who I am reminded of.
This is the eye cream I imagine she pats onto her under-eye every night, as she sits comfortably on a plush ottoman in the dimly-lit, Clean–scented boudoir of her Park Avenue apartment.
The the texture, the packaging, the scent of this cream all scream luxury, sophistication, refinement, elegance. They all scream Charlotte York-Goldenblatt.
~takes a long, deep breath~
Well. Ok, then!
Now that I’m done proclaiming my love for Charlotte, and comparing her to this cream, let’s go over the basics of this eye cream.
(Sidenote: do people still use that phrase? “The 411”? Am I getting old?)
This eye cream is available in Sephora and Ulta, and it retails for a whopping $57 for 15 ml.
I, too, was initially blown away by the price-to-quantity ratio, but for me, this product is well worth the investment.
You need only the tiniest dot of product to provide your under-eye with a silky, rich burst of hydration that will last all day. Seriously. This cream is so rich, and so potent, and so powerfully hydrating, that I cannot wear it under my makeup in the daytime. It is too emollient for that, and I feel it does not fully absorb under makeup.
Despite that flaw, I use it as a night cream and boy, do I love using it that way.
Each night, I treat myself to a tiny little amount of this eye cream (like 1/4 of a pea-size is more than enough to cover my entire orbital bone), and each morning I wake up to a plump-looking under-eye area.
I am not really old, still in my early twenties, so most people would argue that I don’t really need such intensive eye care. However, I have very dry skin, especially around my eyes and lips, and this more than takes care of that.
The key is to start with a very small amount, because too much will leave you with a greasy, clogged face.
This cream does have mineral oil as an ingredient, and I usually break out because of mineral oil, but I have yet to experience any breakouts or milia with this cream. I have been using it for nearly two months now.
Like I mentioned, it is also scented. The scent is not over-powering at all; it is in fact a delicate, sophisticated scent that lingers for a minute or two after application, and then fades away. Scented products usually bother my skin, but this one does not.
TLDR; This is a wonderfully rich and moisturising eye cream which takes away any dry patches or lines that are showing on my face, and provides 24-hour hydration despite being applied only once a day (before bed). A little goes a very long way; I’ve had my jar for two months now, and it has barely a dent in it.
Needless to say, I love this cream and I will definitely repurchase it when I run out. I will also update this post with new thoughts once I have finished my current jar.
