So I received the Chapstick DUO in three flavours via Influenster last month!
I got Berry Sorbet Shimmer, Refreshing Watermelon, and Strawberry Kiwi.
I like these because they are moisturising, and they don’t feel sticky on the lips. Moreover, they are great under liquid lipstick and don’t make it flake or shift like some other moisturising lip bases do. The shade Berry Sorbet Shimmer has a lovely light sparkle to it which really makes the lips look subtly plump and adds a light shimmer when worn atop liquid lipsticks. The cool thing about these is that they can be snapped together if you prefer a combination of different flavours or finishes.
This chapstick promises 8 hours of moisturization which is a claim I haven’t tested, but it wore well under my liquid lipstick for about 4 hours.
What I don’t like is that they have barely any colour. In the picture below, there is Berry Sorbet Shimmer, then Strawberry Kiwi, and Refreshing Watermelon. But can you tell the difference? I can, but barely. But I guess these are not meant to impart any tint to the lips.
All in all, I think it’s a fun idea and it really does make my lips all soft and moisturised which is especially great for winter months, and for wearing under drying matte lipsticks. If you’re a minimal makeup person, I am sure these, with the snap-two-chapsticks-together duo feature, will appeal to you. Personally I’m not obsessed with lip balms but I think these are a great low-cost alternative for my HG Fresh Sugar lip balm.
