The website describes Celebrity Skin as a “soft brown nude with a peachy undertone”. I agree with this description; however, I feel this shade will likely appear darker on fairer skin-tones and more nude-ish/lighter on more pigmented lips/darker skin-tones.
On my lips, it is seriously the exact shade that my lips are naturally. So what I do is, when I apply my base or BB cream, I apply it over my (pre-moisturized with Vaseline) lips and then apply this shade. That way, the true tone of the shade shows up on the lips.
You can also line and fill lips in with a nude pencil before applying this color if you think it looks too light on you.

- Lovely nude shade.
- Lasts for 6 hours on me, barely fading if I have a meal.
- Very opaque and matte.
- Easily applicable, doesn’t streak, goes on creamy and darkens as it dries.
- Perfectly compliments a natural makeup look or smokey eyes.
- Cute packaging and wide range of shades in the Velour Liquid Lipstick collection.
- Not drying, feels comfortable, albeit a tiny bit sticky on the lips.
- Vegan, cruelty-free.
- Pricey for the quantity.
- May not be your particular cup of tea, or “cup of nude” and I believe these are sold online only so there isn’t an easy way of knowing if a shade in this range may be to your liking.
- I don’t like that it photographs lighter than it looks IRL.
I line my lips with the edge of the doe-foot applicator and fill them in with the product. The pictures below shows the product as it dries. It is darker on my lighter-skinned arm and lighter on my pigmented lips, if you get my drift. (Sorry for the crap lip swatch.)
Do I recommend this?
TBH I think this is a huge hit for many people and a miss for some. I am somewhere in between that range. I like how it looks on my made-up face, but not on my bare face. On the latter, it gives a washed-out look.
Also I got this from a Facebook vendor for a shit-tonne of money so I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing it, as drugstore brands make similar products which are good in price and quality (such as NYX and Colourpop).
That said, I do like how it looks on my made-up face. Hence, I shall be using it sparingly, for special occasions when I’m able to perfect a no-makeup look or a smokey eye.
This is more of a day-time shade and one that requires some thinking before a purchase is made.
Maybe if it wasn’t so expensive, I’d have liked it more.
