MUA Luxe Highlight Shimmer

Happy December, everyone! The holiday season is here, and we all know what that means – shimmer/glitter/glow galore! (I hope we all know and agree that this is what the holiday season means.)

So, in true holiday spirit, I bring to you yet another highlighter post. This time I’m reviewing MUA’s Luxe Highlight Shimmer, which is part of a  cream-based highlight, blush, and bronze shimmer series.

This product is a 9 g stick of cream highlighter that imparts a beautiful pale gold glow to the skin.

The Good, And Other Details

This is a beautiful shade that suits my light-medium tan olive/yellow skin wonderfully. It truly gives that lit-from-within glow like you’re sitting by candlelight or something. If you want dewy skin in a stick, this is it.

Honestly, I think this is such a beautiful pale gold shade that will suit just about all skin tones.

In cold weather, the cream formula lasts for about 5-6 hours on top of my BB cream/tinted moisturizer/foundation before fading slightly. It fades very evenly, leaving tiny subtle shimmer and a glow in its wake. Mark my words when I say tiny. Its like silken threads of gold woven into your skin.

9 g is a HUGE amount of product, in all honesty, especially compared with the Β£4.00 price tag it currently retails at.

I love the packaging; it feels very pretty and sleek and chic. Honestly, this would make a great, good-quality, inexpensive gift to give and receive.

The Bad

Wait, I’m trying to think of something bad about this product. Ok, yes. Lasting power isn’t too high in warm weather. Lasted about 4 hours on me before fading. This was in insanely humid weather, btw.

Also, the stick is a bit broad, so not really ideal for direct application of the product. I apply this using my fingers or a brush instead.

As mentioned above, I use my fingers or a round-tipped highlighter brush to rub this product into my cheekbones for instant dewy, supple skin.

(Yes, I realize my arms are in need of a wax.)

Do I recommend this product?

You know how runway models have gorgeous glowy skin, right? Well this is the closest thing I’ve gotten to it in recent times. So yes, I recommend it. Check this product out if you want an inexpensive pale gold cream highlighter that gives a gorgeous glow, devoid of glitter or shimmer, to the skin.

Available at all drugstores which sell MUA products, and online.
