So this summer I’m really into matte, bright but muted pinks. And luckily for me, a relative recently gave me an Estée Lauder gift set which contained three Pure Color lipsticks. My favorite out of the three was shade no. 55, Blushing.
Estée Lauder has this to say about their Pure Color Long Lasting lipsticks:
Color so incredible, it leaves your lips wanting more. Maximized impact. Magnified vibrancy, dimension and brilliance.
True Vision™ technology takes ordinary color and makes it extraordinary. You’ll love the spectrum of fade-resistant, long-lasting shades, from sublime to vivid.
Enriched with lip-loving ingredients, including apricot kernel, shea butter and murumuru butter that leave lips soft and creamy smooth.
Each shade comes in the lasting, seductive finish that suits it best: satin Creme or lustrous Shimmer.
LOOKS, FEELS INCREDIBLE. LEAVES LIPS WANTING MORE.
MEDIUM TO FULL, BUILDABLE
CREME OR SHIMMER
Let’s get to the review, shall we.
Great color payoff. One or two swipes are enough to achieve excellent pigmentation. Glides on the lips, this stuff is moisturising.
Lasts for about 4 hours before starting to fade a bit at the inner corners of my lips. Lasts an hour or so more with lip liner.
I use a nude lip liner underneath this which makes it last longer, and mutes and brightens the color, giving me the perfect summer lip!
Pretty packaging! Feels very … luxurious.
There is a tiny bit of shimmer in this supposedly creme lipstick. Meh.
On its own it makes my yellow/brown-toned skin look slightly … dull. All the more reason to use nude liner to achieve better color payoff.
It is pricey.
It is most likely discontinued according to the site. Might be available at outlets though. Read more on this below.
Swiped twice on the lips, straight out of the tube.
I mean, seriously, who has time to use a lip brush. Applied over nude liner. (Have I mentioned this before?)
Do I recommend this product?
Well this is a pricey lipstick, and not one that is commonly available. According to the site, it looks like this color is no longer available. So if you like this shade and can find it and afford it, then yeah it’s a pretty pink to have in your collection. Though there’s many more like it available, I’m sure, and at cheaper rates.
It is available online at Boots. And Amazon. It may also be available at Estée Lauder outlets worldwide. I’ve checked the U.S. site only. It appears to be available on the Turkish site, so it may not have been fully discontinued yet.
