I love highlighters. Highlighters, luminizers, illuminators. Love ’em all. I collect highlighters like a woman possessed. I have quite a huge collection now, and today I’d like to review one of my all-time favourites.
TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer is an 8.5g powder highlighter, about which the company claims:
Meet Mary-Lou Manizer, a seemingly innocent honey-hued luminizer that catches everybody’s eye. This highlighter, shadow and shimmer diffuses light so your skin looks softer and younger while adding a subtle glow.
This highlighter is a champagne/gold-ish shade, housed in a compact complete with a mirror.
Everything. This is insanely pigmented, one swipe with a fan brush is more than enough for each cheekbone. It’s easy to go overboard with this one so I use a light hand when applying it. The compact is huge; it’ll last me a lifetime I think.
The powder is so soft and finely milled; there is zero graininess.
Best of all, there is no visible shimmer or glitter in this one. It gives a lovely glow which I am sure will suit all skin tones.
It is suitable for daytime, if applied lightly and blended well. For the evening also, it gives a gorgeous highlight.
The packaging is also adorable and sturdy.
There isn’t much, really. Lighter skinned people should use this with a light hand because like I mentioned, it gives a very intense highlight. It is a bit expensive but I think it’s worth the money.
While the compact itself is well made, I have heard horror stories of people dropping their compact on the floor and the powder inside crumbling, so if you obtain one for yourself, be careful not to drop it.
I apply this to my cheekbones using a foundation brush or a fan brush.
The above picture of the blended product is taken in natural light, which was low, so my apologies for the fact that is it dim. But as you can see, there is no visible shimmer or glitter in it.
Do I recommend this?
Most definitely. If you are looking for a good quality powder highlighter which is worth what you’re spending on it, and you want it to last you quite a while, I would suggest you give this a try.
I purchased this from Rouge on Facebook for Rs.2400 though I am not sure of the price now because I got mine some months ago.
It is available at theBalm online.
In Pakistan it is also available on beauty arena.
The books on which I placed the product are Make-Up Secrets by Jemma Kidd and Makeup Makeovers by Robert Jones.
